Sustainable event planning – what else?

In addition to exciting tips and news, we now also include selected topics, stories, and matching offers from the Lucerne-Lake Lucerne Region in our newsletter.

The Lucerne-Lake Lucerne Region is known for its proximity to nature, local cuisine, and state-of-the-art event facilities.

Read on to find out how the Lucerne Convention Bureau and its partners are driving the region's development into a sustainable business destination.

Sustainable travel with Bucher Bus

Those who organise their events with Bucher Events benefit from a modern fleet consisting of limousines as well as coaches. The coach is a promising form of sustainable transport. Compared to other transport carriers, it proves to be very climate-friendly when well occupied. Additionally, Bucher Travel cleans its vehicles with collected rainwater and is safe and clean on the road with Euro 6 engines. As an ASTAG member, the company is committed to making its limousine and bus service as environmentally and climate friendly as possible. Therefore, an event with Bucher Events not only offers unforgettable moments for all participants, but also a step towards sustainable development.

Engelberg - Up into the sun

After the 40-minute transfer from Lucerne to Engelberg, the journey continues by foot through the monastery village and then up to Ristis aboard the Brunni cable car. In 2018, the Brunni cable car was certified as Switzerland's first climate-neutral mountain railway and, among other features, is able to provide a large part of the energy for snowmaking on the surrounding ski slopes with solar power generated in-house. The Ristis mountain lodge, which received an award from the Swiss Solar Agency for its photovoltaic system in 2019, offers the perfect conclusion with a regional afternoon snack. Discover the sunny side of Engelberg and experience an uncomplicated and climate-friendly ski day.

LED and Upcycling at the KKL Luzern

In 2021, it was time to modernise the illumination in the KKL Luzern (Culture and Convention Centre Lucerne) with a more sustainable concept. Since then, the existing conventional light sources have been continuously replaced by innovative LEDs. These ensure high efficiency and lighting quality. This means that the building is now even better equipped for a wide range of events, from seminars in the auditorium to colourfully staged pop concerts in the Lucerne Hall than before. The motivation for the renovation is long-term sustainability, which can save between 15 and 20% energy. In addition to the illumination concept, upcycling was introduced with the removal of the steel catering counters in Event Catering. This prevented the counters from being disposed of and resources were economised.

New opening: House of Energy

The «House of Energy» will open its doors at the Swiss Museum of Transport on 3 April 2023. In addition to the exhibition on the topic of energy, the new facilities will offer additional space for conferences and events. The building complies with the Minergie-P standard, has photovoltaic modules on the roof and façade plus an alternative energy centre with water utilisation. The themes of the «Experience Energy!» exhibition will also be reflected in the gastronomic offerings. The ZFV gastronomy group, as the Museum of Transport's catering partner, has collaborated with Food 2050 to create a sustainable menu that has a minimal ecological footprint.
Guests and participants can learn about the sustainability of the dishes served on site. The idea is to promote awareness of sustainable cuisine in the event sector.
